Jen Rothmeyer – photography, blogging

Creative and well-organized, Jen moves through life with a sense of humor and desire to live life to the fullest. She works hard and believes in excellence, but she plays hard and believes in happiness as well. Her ultimate goal is to experience life with kindness, grace, and best of all: fun.

When asked to describe herself using the alphabet, Jen chose the following words: assertive, boisterous, courageous, dedicated, engaged, frank, gregarious, honest, integrity, just, kinetic, loyal, mindful, noisy, open, perfectionist, inQuisitive, respectful, selflessly serve, trustworthy, understanding, verbose, wicked, xanthic, yappy, zany. Her self-esteem isn’t nearly as high as it seems.

Jen was born in Des Moines, Iowa. She grew up in a small township on the outskirts of the capital city. As a teen she didn’t figure she had any skills at all, so her senior year she joined the Army National Guard. Many good times were had, but after six years Jen decided it was time to say goodbye, so she received her honorable discharge.

Meanwhile, Jen had two kids, went to college, and earned a few degrees. She bought a house with her co-conspirator Aaron in Mount Vernon, Iowa and then married him on a small island in the Caribbean.

Now Jen works from home as an independent writer. She takes photos for friends and for fun, publishes the EmSun website, writes book reviews for a variety of companies, gardens obsessively, takes very long bubbly baths, drinks twice as much coffee as she does wine (which is considerable), considers brewing beer on a weekly basis, cooks from scratch, pretends to be an artist, finishes triathlons and running events, parents a gaggle of kids, and reads more books than the library can keep up with.

In addition to her website, you can catch her via e-mail, at EmSun’s Facebook page, or on Twitter as emsundotorg.
